As 2009 draws to a close, it's time to reflect upon the final year of the decade and consider what caught our aural attention. One of the surprise hits of the year surely has to be Mumford & Sons - the folk/pop quartet from London who appeared to land in the studio from nowhere, with a lifetime of heartache behind them, but with a keen pop sensibility.
As it happens, Mumford & Sons had already released three EP's before the folk throwback 'Little Lion Man' hit mainstream airwaves, one of which I present here for y'all listening pleasure.
Love Your Ground is four tracks of banjo-pickin' and foot-stompin' goodness. Opening with an earlier version of 'Little Lion Man' the listener can hear mainman Marcus Mumford's pain a little clearer given the raw production.
The remaining three tracks didn't make it to Sigh No More which will undoubtedly make physical copies of this EP a sought after gem.
